See a Great Show and Support Preble Street
Preble Street operates the largest emergency food service program in northern New England, providing 610,000 nutritious meals a year to individuals and families, children and adults who are homeless or living in poverty. Run by professional food service staff with the support of more than 6,000 volunteers, the program provides nourishing food to impoverished people in the largest urban area in Maine, a state with rates of hunger among the highest in the nation. Maine ranks 12th for food insecurity and 3rd for very low food security (aka hunger). Preble Street operates three soup kitchen locations—each of which serves breakfast, lunch, and dinner 365 days a year—as well as a weekly emergency food pantry that distributes 500 emergency food boxes each week to 170-200 households, including fresh produce, bread, and staples for three days of nutritious meals for each family member.
